01

Wine and Grapes

Check out the award-winning Epona wines! Kenton’s been making wine since 1995, and has won a Double Gold medal, two Gold medals, and numerous Silver medals in the Seattle Wine Awards (WA’s largest professional wine competition). Also the People’s Choice winner at Vancouver’s Craft Wine Fest. And the wine prices are very reasonable.

He grows modern grape varieties (check out his recently-published 4th edition of Modern Grapes for Cool Climates, on Amazon). Kenton is one of the PacNorthwest’s leading experts on selecting and growing modern grapes, which are much more-sustainable than European winegrapes.

To be added to the Epona email wine list (there’s never an obligation to buy anything, and your email address will be kept confidential), please email Kenton at [email protected] .

02

Creative Writing

Kenton’s had five short stories published in different books, print and online magazines, and literary journals.

Recent he was one of several winners of Punk Noir’s “A Good Death” story competition, with his story ‘Killing House.’ His short stories include: an ambitious female vampire on a starship; a tech-savvy chimpanzee who’s locked the owners out of their home; a nebulous entity which may be a portal to another dimension; a polio victim in an iron lung, in love with someone on the phone who may not be who he seems; a group of writers very upset at years of rejections by publishers; and several stories about the benefits of AI in the near future.

He’s working on three dystopian novels. Each tries to take an optimistic view amidst extreme social upheaval.

03

Certified Organic Master Gardener

Kenton recently completed a four-month course at Gaia College in British Columbia, to become a certified OMG. This entailed 15 long sets of readings, class discussions, 10 tests (with 100% score required), and 3 major field project/research papers with bibliography. He received a 99-point grade in the course.

He practices mostly-organic gardening and encourages others to act locally, to try to address the adverse impacts of climate change and overpopulation.

He’s leading a project to plant replacement trees and shrubs in a half-mile-long strip of his neighborhood’s garden beds. This is being done at no cost to the HOA or homeowners–all funded by private donations, saving the neighborhood about $20,000 in cost if it had used a professional nursery.

Growing, canning, and giving away produce are a fun part of his summers.

Kenton’s available for consulting on a wide variety of plant-growing issues.

Kenton’s Legal Career

Kenton obtained both engineering (magna cum laude) and law degrees from Vanderbilt, then worked for 40 years in corporate law, making significant achievements in legal data management, legal cost reductions, novel business structures, and patent infringement litigation risk management.

He worked for large and small companies, including Chevron (as an engineer), Dow Chemical, Enron, The Williams Companies, FEI Corp, and VTech, serving as Staff Counsel, Assistant General Counsel, General Counsel, and Vice President.

Significant milestones include: Helped develop the nation’s second nationwide fiber optic network; invented a new structure for gas-fired power plants to share fuel supply; developed several cogeneration power plants; was the lead attorney for the nation’s first full-requirements power supply agreement for a major port, by an independent power producer; supported the acquisitions of companies and oil and gas reserves; worked on wind power projects; created a novel contract administration system; greatly reduced his company’s settlements in alleged patent infringements, through the invention of a legal risk analysis process related specifically to alleged patent infringement.

Still Other Areas of Interest

He enjoys, and loves to discuss: travel; budgeting and financial theory; wind chime and windbell theory; the almost-insurmountable problems associated with the skyrocketing national debt; why peace is smarter than war; how the US could better serve its people; the transition from hydrocarbons to renewable energy; and healthier ways to live, amidst a food culture that seems hell-bent on killing us.

He is serving or has served as: the Chair of Ridgefield WA’s Roundabout Commission; Board member of his HOA; Board member of the local winery association; the President of his church; and the GM and co-GM of two chapters of a sporting group, and on several other boards. He’s written numerous articles, and had a few articles written about him.

“Kenton’s wines are great! And it feels good to be helping to save the world, by buying them. No, really! You’ve gotta read his book on modern grapes, and you’ll see.”
